How can you get enjoyment out of going afking and laughing that ppl are trying to invite you? And I don't mean it like... "thats ridiculous! how can you be so cruel to laugh about something like that?" cuz I enjoy messing around with the blind invites once in a while too .
What I mean is, since your afk, how do you even know that ppl are trying to invite you or not? Since you don't know you can't really laugh about it can you?

I just afk wherever I am. Sometimes in town, sometimes in an explorable, wherever. So when I come back I can just pick up where I left off. I can't imagine zoning to some random spot to afk for kicks, but I guess some people would do that.

By no means is PvU(rsan) required to do that run. Just get yourself a MM hero and let the minions take the aggro while you nuke the bisons and stuff (although one tank is probably needed when you get close to the 6 bosses).
In addition, you won't have the down-time looking for a HB monk when one isn't available.
Just a little tip there as I got r10 Norn (for the title only as I hate UB) way before the current teddy craze, so it's definitely doable without 'bearing up'

For me my favorite place to afk for 1-2 hours is usually sit by the big campfire in Gunnar's hold or deldrimor warcamp wearing my Norn fur coat in the cold. It just looks neat to see my mesmer sitting there chilling with his little lich pet walking around.
By the time I get back on sometimes I see 2-3 other afk sitting by the campfire with their pets out too. it's funny!

there should be a feature that if you show no activity for 60 seconds a big ol afk sign goes on your head.
and if you dont wanna see other peoples afk signs just hide it in the menu.

Lol if you cant do with heros wat you can do with people you dont deserve to play this game.
Talkin bout spending time lookin for monks... screw it
Me and a friend just completed FoW in 1.5 hours with only one hero monk
my friend is a monk but we both went with UB with heros backing us up
Neway if a monks afk screw him and take a good hero

Because why would the particular hour that I'm AFK be any different from every other hour of the day when there is a demand for monks?

Same as above. I afk whenever an rl instance pops up and I'm alone. In a team however, I'll only afk if theres a fire or other emergency that would warrant an afk.

EXACTLY! The only response people are likely to get from blind invites is a sarcastic one. People often seem to think you are there just to help them....
I afk just about anywhere too.. no special place, though if I remember its more likely to be D/L in pre ^.^

Which makes you , one of the reasons why PUGS are hated so much. I guess poor players have to do that sort of thing to get anything done.

Usually, if I'm going to AFK, I do it in my guild hall. I have had some fun leaving my monk in mission outposts where everyone's searching for monks, though... I once left my monk AFK in a mission outpost overnight... I don't remember which mission, but I know a ton of people were looking for monks there. When I came back, I had a bunch of "join us!" PM's. "join us we only need monks our team is leet plz we need u"
EDIT:

In every PUG I've been in, if there's a leecher, we zone back into town and form a party without the leecher... I've never had a team that didn't want to restart a mission/quest if there was an AFK.

Ascalon Arena, so funny when I return and I see a bunch of messages like "Where did you get that armor?", "Can I have some money"...etc.
Lol, I enjoy that place.
